 Who is general Asim Munir;

Asim Munir is the general of the Pak army has four stars and is the next army chief.  The prime minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif appointed him as the 11th chief of army staff on 24 September 2022 for 3 years term. Asim Munir has joined the Pak army as a 2nd lieutenant in 1986. General Asim Munir was given the rank of Lieutenant General in 2018. and on 24 November 2022 lieutenant General Asim Munir is selected as Chief of the army staff on merit. 

For the first time in the history of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a Hafiz Quran General has got the honor of becoming the Army Chief. General Asim Munir will be an exceptional and professional Army Chief who has succeeded in becoming the Chief of Army staff.

His appointment as Army Chief came to light after facing many challenges, Lieutenant General Asim Munir was made Army Chief after a long consultation process. It is said about Lieutenant General Asim Munir that on one hand, he has been a great officer and commander but on the other hand it is also pointed out that as Army chief and his appointment has become a political issue between political parties.

In the context of the current political situation in Pakistan, General Asim Munir has a heavy responsibility to keep the army free from politics and maintain the army's conviction among the people. Because at this time many eyes are fixed on him in the context of many important decisions.

General Asim Munir from the Deri Hassanabad area of Rawalpindi is one of the officers of the Pakistan Army who was trained by the Army officers through the Officer Training School (OTS). Asim Munir belongs to the 17th OTS (officer training school) course, usually, those who come from the long course become generals, but General Asim has come from the OTS and not from the long course. 

PMA Long Course;

PMA long course is a cabinet of commission officers for support of arms services. A two-year course in Kakul Abbottabad, which is held at the Pakistan Military Academy, trains officers to join the Pakistan Army.  In contrast, another institute called Officer Training School (OTS), which used to be in Kohat, was later shifted to Mangala.

Areas of posting;

General Asim Munir passed out from the Pakistan Officer Training School after which he was commissioned into the Frontier Force Regiment in the Army. General Asim Munir was commissioned in the 23rd Battalion in the Frontier Force Regiment and was posted at GHQ Rawalpindi as 3rd Star Quartermaster General before his promotion and current posting. In 2017, General Asim Munir was given the post of DG of Military Intelligence. In October 2018, General Asim Munir was made the head of ISI, but after a short period of eight months, he was replaced by General Faiz Hameed as DGISI.

General Asim Munir has also served in Saudi Arabia as Lt. Col. As Lt. Gen. Asim Munir was the Corps Commander Gujranwala for two years after which he was appointed Quartermaster General in GHQ Rawalpindi. General Asim Munir is the first Army Chief to hold the post of Quartermaster General, in military terms Quartermaster General refers to the post which is responsible for providing various types of equipment including food, etc. He also holds the distinction of being the first Army Chief to have served as the head of Military Intelligence and ISI. 

Hafiz Quran;

Chief Asim Munir is also an honorary swordsman and Hafiz of the Quran. He memorized the Holy Quran in Makkah at the age of 38 during his appointment in Saudi Arabia.

Awards;

 Asim Munir was awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz in 2018. General Asim Munir was also awarded a sward of Honour for their best performance.
